There is that old old saying "There are no atheists in foxholes" that many religious zealots like to quote. Turns out it's not true. Quite a few atheist soldiers got pissed at Bush Sr. when he said the no atheist is a real citizen or patriot. Now Baby Bush is craming religion down people's throats with his faith-based initiatives and by taking every occasion to mention that we can overcome terrorists by being a strong, godly nation. Yup. He's trying to put the fear of god in us. Or at least use fear as the lever to try and stuff it back into us.
