It's TRUE! You could get SUED! In fact, Michael Buffer's trademark
phrase gets ripped off so often that he's set up a
Squeal for Cash website.
Yes indeed, if anybody you see, say some lousy internet cartoonist,
were to use his phrase "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" and you were to
report this terrible
trademark violation, well you might just net yourself a reward!
Of course, they say it's up to them to decide if you deserve monetary
compensation for pointing out violations. Which means you don't get
squat unless :
- It's a real violation
- It's not fair use
- There was monetary damage done to them
- They can get a settlement worth more than the lawyer fees
- They feel like sharing the wealth.
Translation? YOU GET BUPKIS! Well, except for the warm feeling in
your heart that you did the right thing! |
